ICS IB students go through in BBC Short Story competition

ICS students go through in BBC writing competition

In February, our Year 5 and Year 6 International Baccalaureate students visited a live BBC broadcast to launch the annual 500 Word Essay competition.  Our students then spent time in class drafting and writing their personal essays.  The essays were submitted to the BBC and were judged on the following categories.

  • Originality
  • Plot
  • Characterisation
  • Language
  • Enjoyment

Congratulations to two students whose stories were chosen to make it through to the next round. The BBC received 131,798 entries and only 5,000 go to the Reading Agency for the second round of judging.

This success is a great example of how our international community connects with the amazing resources in London. It also shows how the International Baccalaureate develops world class writers. We wish them both good luck in the next round!
